Fonce always asks about the kaiila, he always speaks of my skills with them. That is something that means a great deal to me. He is the only person I know that has ever taken any interest in that part of my life. He seems to understand how much the kaiila has become a part of me and knows how much working with them means to me. I am grateful that there is at least one. I can honestly give him credit for being the one to lay it all in my lap in the first place. Mother had been the driving force behind my equestrian career growing up but it had always been something she wanted me to do. I had never taken it as my own and poured myself into it as I do now. Instead, it was his foresight that set a series of events into action that made me the woman I am now. Truth is it had all started when he shared a vision he had when he was the Ubar. He had come in from a training exercise with his men in full war garb with an injury. I think it was the first time we sat and spoke of deeper beliefs ... our passions and found a common thread we could hold onto. His was to make his armies stronger, swifter, more lithe and agile in battle. He did not want to lose a brother … a warrior of this tribe for any reason much less to the inferiority of the kaiila he rode, to any lack of training or ability. His vision was so strong that he could make me see as if it were part of my own. I could see how the mounts held a vital importance. It was simply something I took and ran with. It was the reason I began working with the cutters then honed the skills until I could train the beasts to respond with highly skilled precision. He had given me the chance to do what I loved. That is more than most are allowed in life. I wasn't about to waste the opportunity.
He mentioned wishing to see me work with the creatures and for the first time in what seemed like a forever, I felt my shoulder square back with the true pride of my clan. I would look forward to being able to show him what the effects of a vision can have, all the good that it can create. Yes, I would like that.
